Little, White Tee

It's Monday morning and I'm on my way out of town for a three day, Discovery Channel shoot.

I find that when I work, It's always best to wear flats, but I'm throwing some basic, fun heels on that I'll stash in my trunk. When shooting is wrapped for the day, It's nice to simply change your shoes and head out for dinner with your team feeling a little more presentable. 

I'll be on my feet, so a simple, flattering skirt and basic tee will keep me mobile. To that end, some basic ballet flats will serve until dinner time.

I'm a fan of the "fan" effect this linen number has. Inverted, side pleats.

 

Ponytail for work days. No fuss, no muss.

But a girl can still wear her pearls...

Casual, lady lunch

This week I was able to sneak in a visit with a dear friend in between gigs and commuting engagements. Our girl time was sorely needed, and I must admit, when I see my darling Ms. "T", no matter how casual I feel, I throw on heels to be in fashion inspiring company!

No different this day, when I felt more like lounging in comfy jeans and a tank. But a little heel and scarf just spruced it enough to make me presentable. (Except for the splash of water that dripped onto me in the midst of snapping this shot)...

Still, one lesson I've learned this past year is to be more bold with color. It's amazing how just draping a bright, statement tone can make an otherwise plain outfit look much cuter.

Color Science Primer

I've developed a new crush on this fabulous primer I've been testing out for the past two weeks. Meet Colorscience's SPF 20, bronzing primer!

This product goes on like silky, silicone but it's actually formulated with zinc and titanium dioxide. It's specialized formula allows your skin to reap all the benefits of mineral makeup without leaving that white, chalky appearance. So it can be used for camera work, Hi-Def, and of course, real life!

Thus far I've only tested the bronzing primer, but I love the healthy glow it gives my skin and the instant sun protection factor. I never re-do makeup once it's on, and after working 16 hour days on set all week/end, I can say that this baby really passed the test. Going into 24 hours of being up straight, I never once had to re-touch a smidgen of oil or shine anywhere on my face.

To get the maximum benefit, I recommend using a daily moisturizer and letting it set for about a minute.

Then, squirt one drop of this luxurious primer onto the tip of your finger. Smooth and blend.

Set with a little, lightweight powder. (I like Becca Sesame or YSL Poudre Sur Mesure.

And here's the finish. Disclosure: I'm wearing no foundation or concealer. Just primer, powder and blush.

Dollar Dress

This past Sunday I enjoyed my first day off from shooting in several days. Having to get up at 4:00AM does tend to put a cramp in your daily efforts at style!

This maxi dress is a little jewel picked up last month for a buck at a favorite thrift store. Combined with some vintage bangles, (3$ each) and woven belt, (2$) I think this whole outfit came at in around 11$, (minus the flats).

Embracing bronze shadows pops a red lip. Since it's fairly bold, I'm keeping the rest of my look clean with freshly blown out and straightened hair.

Black Halo Pants: Rediscovered!

For those of you who've read my blog, you've seen my obsession with Black Halo dresses building. (I'm now the proud owner of three and counting)!

The funny thing is that I didn't realize I had already made the acquaintance of this brand. Three years ago I found myself at a "Billion Dollar Babes" sale event near downtown LA. I ended up snagging these high waisted pants which I later deemed, "My Lucky Palazzos". (I signed on with my first agency in New York while wearing them).

But I didn't connect the dots and realize this was the same label I've been touting now for months as a dress company. So if you've tried Black Halo dresses and loved their fit, give their pants a shot. I did, and now I want more.

My favorite detail about this, specific pair? The semi-inverted pleats and ultra high waist. Black Halo really doesn't make many pants these days, but I did find one on their site here that offers an equally pretty fit and flare. (See below).

This Gemma Wide Leg Pant is an adorable and updated, summery version of my fall colored trousers. Crisp, white in the summer? You can't go wrong. When I decide to update from nautical navy, I'll go for these babies.

Stepping out Ladylike

I'm so glad I rediscovered these gold, low, heels I bought at least 7 years ago. In the midst of all the sky high platforms and stilettos, these little snakeskin patterned, Mary-janes have such a retro, 40's look.

I'm really glad I held on to them, (considering my passion for constantly clearing and updating my closet). They seem to complement this dress which feels so vintage, (even thought it's not)!

I threw on my, (real) vintage clutch and family pearls to pull it together.

 Winged liner always makes me feel polished.

Lush Sleeves

It's great to be home and soaking up all the things I love about the daily routine of  LA. A quick farmers market run, a late night movie at a single screen house, birds out on my balcony, and a great burrito off a local, food truck late last night. I love visiting Tel-Aviv and soaking up its food and culture, and then I love getting back to LA life and all the things it has to offer.

This morning I'm running my usual slew of errands, but I've decided not to be one of those girls who hits the grocery store in sweat pants. There's really no reason to sacrifice taste for comfort. Just throw on something super billowy and life gets functional and cozy.

Since it's warming back up, shorts are key, and skin really does better naked in the summer weather. I've opted for a red-orange lip today to pop this rust theme.

(A little hint: If you're going for a strong lip, keep all else at a minimum). I've left bare skin, (no base) no shadow, brow, or blush. Just a hint of shimmering bronzer, mascara, and a bit of eyeliner. For this look, let your lips do all the talking and keep all else simple for balance.
