Stila Did It

Stila has some gorgeous new palettes that are a breath of fresh air this fall. All varying shades of earth tones in shimmers and mattes, you can't go wrong with any of these luscious combos!
Heart, Soul and Spirit are the three new palettes I purchased this week. Eager to try the tones and textures, and inspired by this image of model Karlie Kloss that I'd torn from a November, "Best Looks" spread, I decided to play with some of the russet and beige-gold colors.
After beginning with my newest investment, (more on that this week) in Shiseido's BB Cream Dark, I applied loose finishing powder and a drop of concealer above and below my lids to get the canvas primed.
Step one was to swipe the tone "Affection" across my entire lid, from lash to crease.
Next I added a soft, off-white, matte shadow in "Light" to blend out the crease tone, and buffed  it with a large, blending brush. I ran a beigey-brown shadow under my lower lash line in "Thought" to create contour and depth.
I blended and softened the lines, but kept the shadows a bit thicker than my normal routine. (A La Karlie).
I also used a swipe of Stila's ubiquitous "Kitten" shadow, (a favorite highlighter for many artists) to lift directly under the brow for a slight sheen.
Next I grabbed a mixture of the top left shadow, (Light) and mixed it with the middle lower shadow, (Heart) to create a blond, brow powder filler. Sometimes you can get the correct tone without resorting to an additional brow palette, as long as the colors are matte and fairly neutral or ash in tone.
I extended my lash line with my favorite Stila pencil, the creamy and perfect, russet colored, Tigers Eye.
 Voila.
For some additional warmth and sheen I added Benefit's Coralista (which is a peachy, shimmer blush), along with a highlighter from Rouge Bunny Rouge.
Both applications were done with a flat brush to create depth and a slightly more edged line.
Cheek in center, highlight from orbital bone to hairline.
A coat of my favorite L'Oreal Manga mascara, and some gloss from Rouge Bunny Rouge sealed the deal.

Set Days were made for comfort

September has really revved up and I'm going into my third straight week of non-stop shooting. Given the nature of my hours I've gravitated towards cozy clothes all week.
I'm a little obsessed with my local, Heavenly Couture store around the corner. If you live in Cali you've probably seen them a time or two. Their motto? Nothing over $16! The store is a great place to grab trend items or little filler pieces, (like that perfect sweater to pair with that luxury pencil skirt you just bought at the department store. Or a trend you just want to test without spending much). Comfy and chic, these harem pants feature a dropped crotch that add some funk to my traditionally tailored blazer.
Spike heels dress up basics easily. And a low kitten heel is still "workable" on set.
A soft tee is a sure fire staple.
Pants: Heavenly Couture, Top: GAP, Heels: BCBG, Purse: Elliott Lucca, Jacket: Top Shop, Choker: JewelMint

I'm set ready, and off to work once again! Stay tuned for the winner of the Aura Vie giveaway this Friday!

Unboxing My AdoreMe!

What a fabulous day it is to come home and find a surprise package from the world's sexiest lingerie, Adore Me, waiting at my front door!
Adore Me creates outstanding inner and underwear, and their sizes, cuts and fit are exceptional. But it's also a treat to "unbox" a new item, because everything is packaged with such thought, care and humor. Packaging alone makes opening an Adore Me purchase that much more enjoyable! I was so excited when I opened my box and found this gorgeous, Caprice lace set displayed inside the cutest container, (which I subsequently kept for storing delicates).
Which leads me to say that while I myself have never been a big, "oh hey, your bra is showing" kind of girl, the lace sets from Adore me are simply the prettiest lingerie in the most luscious colors. They feel like something you'd want to show off alongside your clothing. So I am!
A little peek-a-boo effect makes me feel slightly scandalous, but in the good way...

Jane on Montana: The Place for Oooh

Happy Labor Day Everyone!

I hope it's been a groovy, long weekend. For my part, It's been a chance to rest, reevaluate, and spend a little one-on-one time with the hubs. (Not that we won't be checking out a few Labor Day sales and testing out some possible furniture ideas)...

Whether you're bound for the beach, prepping to BBQ, or  perhaps hitting a few holiday sales, I hope you enjoy the day of leisure and make it a good one. One of my absolute, fave boutiques here in Los Angeles is Jane, located at Montana and 16th street. I have never been able to resist a purchase, and what Jane's does best is stock the coolest, cutest, and most affordable garments that are all built for comfort. For Labor Day and all its endless trekking from sale to sale and BBQ to BBQ, I wanted something utterly cozy. Jane was featuring this fabulous, cotton-y romper with gigantic, harem style cuts. I had to have it.

In addition, the LF Boutiques across the US are also still going strong on their store-wide sales, (see my previous post here and here) which is where I scooped up the above shoes. Between my Jane addiction and my local LF, this Labor Day might be seeing a little wallet action...
Romper: Jane Boutique, Vest: F21, Earrings: Tres Jolie, Booties: Jeffrey Campbell Ibiza

Whatever you're doing today, make it great. Happy no-work Monday!

Prepping Fall

For some of you, the idea of fall being around the corner may seem too early. After all who wants to say goodbye to summer? But living near the ocean is great prep for the layers and heavier weight fabrics that are to come.
One easy way to begin the transition to your fall closet is to pair heavier textiles with a thick soled sandal. In this case, a rocker, Birkenstock inspired, wedge mixed with pleather and fleece. It's a nod to summer on the shoe front, but it's weighty and hearty for fall.

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell Circus, Skirt: Zara, Clutch: Paul & Joe Sister, Top: RD Style

And that's how I begin to adjust. Out with the sheer fabrics, in with the sweaters and fleece. And if you're interested in a good sale and you live in NY, CA, MA, TX, or FL, check out your neighborhood LF boutiques. LF is hosting an "end of the summer" liquidation sale, which is where I picked up these flats for a steal!
