Set to Date

How do you go from work to dinner out in 15 minutes?

Ditch the boots, lose the jeans, throw a quick curl in your hair with a hot roller set, change your lipstick, and head on out!

I started my work day in these rockin', Steve Madden camouflage booties, but quickly changed into Sam Edelman, spiked heels for a dinner around the corner.
I swapped the grey, work skinnies for a leatherette, pencil skirt, and put in hot rollers for ten minutes. I changed my red lips to a subtle pink to complement my shoes and bag.

Top: Timing, Heels: Sam Edelman, Booties, Steve Madden, Blazer: H&M, Bag: Gifted, Skirt: Zara

It only takes 15 minutes to swap out if your core pieces are good basics. A pencil skirt, a good, black blazer, and some nude heels and a neutral bag will keep your look classic and fresh.

Set Life: For Life

This week I'm back to the grind after a single day off, and that means back to my Jeans/T-Shirt/Moto-Boot uniform.
But even the softest and best, white T-shirts and tanks can get a little stale after a while. I wanted to find another way to wear this vegan leather, laser cut top I'd bought in the winter, but the long sleeves weren't working for me anymore. So I hacked them off and left the edges rough and distressed, creating a perfect cap sleeve.
I also rolled down one of my favorite pairs of winter, work boots. Often when buying high label boots, you'll find that the mark of quality comes from having an outside as well as an inside faced in leather, so you can roll them down and maintain the look.
Boots: Pour La Victoire, Top: Zara, Jeans: Vigoss, Necklace: Gift

So I launch into the warm weather by adapting my winter togs to shoot.

Cheetah Chubby

Happy Monday All!

Today is officially my last day on Wipeout, and I have exactly 24 hours between this show's wrap and my next commercial to get hair color, mani/pedi, teeth whitening, grocery shopping, and apartment cleaning all done before Wednesday. Ahhh! So much to do, so little time!
But I can't complain. This past weekend I was able to take Saturday and Sunday off and celebrate 17 years with my, (long suffering) husband. Almost two decades have gone by and we still look at each with surprise and excitement. I can't begin to say how much I love him. It's funny though. We took a couple of snaps during our anniversary lunch at the Getty Center, but I didn't want to document anything beyond a couple of shots as mementos. I just wanted to stay in the moment all day and not think about posing together or constantly recording our lives.

So instead I'll blog this little outfit I donned earlier in the week, which I wore to a quick business meeting before heading to set. Living, (and meeting up) on Montana lends itself to some really funky but casual wear. Silk caftan dress. Booties. A slightly warmer, chubby jacket for the early morning chill...
Dress: Winter Kate, Bag: Sandro, Booties: Dolce Vita, Hat: Target, Chubby: Guess

I hope your week is full of promise.

Old Boots, New Vibe

Are we loving the over-the-knee boot trend this season? I am, and I'm glad I've been investing in this shape for a number of years now, (I've got at least three that reach to my thigh at present).
The easiest of outfits for a day on set, comfy with a little groove. I can scrunch these babies all the way down, or straighten them all the way up.
Boots: MIA, Jeans: F21, Clutch: Etsy, Flannel: Marshall's

And although my husband tells me repeatedly that I look like a pirate, I think I'll keep working the tall, tall boots. After all, last night my client told me I "rocked" a Kanye shirt. Not bad for an old dame...

How do you "rock" your thigh highs?

Year In Review

Happy New Year Everyone! 2013 sped by in the blink of an eye, and looking back it was filled with some really exciting and pivotal moments for me. In 2013:

I diligently worked on the house we bought in Santa Barbara while maintaining my life and apartment in LA. (No mere feat)... I worked part time on two, network sit-coms. I went back to Europe for a real, week off in August. I taught my cat, (temporarily) how to use a human toilet. (True story). Most of all, I worked full time in television and commercials, celebrated 5 years of marriage, and somehow, still managed to blog. In the spirit of reflection, here are some of my favorite blogging moments of the past year. Thank you for reading and have an amazing, new year!
Favorite vintage dresses included a real, St John knitwear piece.

Favorite dresses: Black Halo and Diane Von Furstenberg.

Vintage leather included a mini and a midi.
Best denim was printed and waxed.

Best investment shorts in soft leather worked seasonally throughout spring and fall.

Fave skirts included below and above the knee.

Favorite casual attire was polished off with tuxedo jackets in white and black.

Favorite layering pieces included swing coats and trenches.

Babydolls came back in a big way, as did plaid.

And in my beauty roundups...
...We talked turkey on the most natural BB Creams.

Played "guess which face is drugstore vs. department store" products.

Taught smokey and pastel eyed, makeup techniques.

And most  truly, shared a little piece of myself.
I hope you all have a magnificent 2014!

Cozily Prepping to Shoot

This morning is literally the first time in almost two weeks in which I haven't woken up between 2:30 and 4:00 AM to shoot. Luckily my call time today is a teeny bit later and for the first time in days, I'm up with the sun!
Practicality is still the rule on set. Got my ASH boots on for pure comfort, some printed denim, and a logo-esque, soft sweater.  Little chandeliers give this simple style some femininity.
In truth, the easiest thing to grab when I want to feel cozy yet still a little trendy is a print or a single image. Today it's both.
Sweater: F21, Boots: ASH, Earrings: Tres Jolie, Jeans: Level 99

And it's off to the grind! Happy weekend All!
