I remember shopping in Tel Aviv a couple of years ago. My fashionable cousin announced to me that "The skinny jean is DEAD". She said it with such conviction, but I think she might've been ahead of the curve by at least 24 months. The good news is it seems that jeans of any cut are acceptable this season. Skimmers, skinnies, prints, neons, high waists, low waists, and of course, the new Boyfriend Jean.
I must admit that I've been on the slow bandwagon to hopping on the "BF" jean trend, but actually, a slouchy pair that hits the mid-riff just right can look very new again.
This is Gap's BF jean in a basic, navy wash with just a hair of whiskering. (Super soft denim too)! I was actually in search of a more faded, 80's wash but these are just as versatile. (A word to the wise though. I was between sizes and went bigger because what's the point of a tight, boyfriend jean? These don't have the lycra we've become accustomed to in our skinnies and they bagged up another inch after a few wears. I suggest going down a size in their line).
You don't need a six pack for low cut jeans when they're not fitted. A loose tunic works just as well skimming the mid-riff...
A medium heel is great for elongating the line of a baggy pant. I think towering platforms are cute in print, but in life they look a little "done" when your jeans are this loose and casual. 2-3 inch heels are more than enough to stretch the line of the leg. (See last week's blog giveaway here for a chance to win the perfect heel for this pant)
