Flower Power

Every spring floral prints rear their head, and this year is no exception. Right now florals and lace seem to be going hand in hand, so today I'm trying my hand at a little flower power. (As always, I can't go uber girly though, so I'm mixing soft prints with a pair of chunky heels).
I've been wearing this lingerie inspired camisole under loose tees and over knitted slouchy pants, but today felt a little more feminine. It's all skirts and lace and baubles.
(And an appearance by my favorite, Adore Me bra doubling as a strapless).

Instyler Pro

Happy Weekend All!

I've been backstage working on campaigns for Bravo and We TV, and one of my favorite things thus far about these jobs is my use of the Instyler Pro. (Although  I'm a makeup artist, I get tasked to do quite a bit of hair. All I can say is, thank goodness this baby exists)!
This amazing product is the perfect tool to create instant, soft, beachy waves. Contemporary hair these days is soft, fluid, and unfussy. It's not big, swooped, Farah Fawcett hair, nor is it ringlet curls. It's beach waves, and the best way to create them is with an Instyler. So tune in next week for a tutorial on how to get it done.

Dressing It Down

I've had this Kate Young for Target dress for the past year, but have never pulled it out of the closet.

The dress has a "Hi-Low" hem and sports a single shoulder strap, so it felt a little dressy for a casual meal out. But it occurred to me that rather than wait for an occasion befitting the cut, I could make it more daytime friendly by layering some slouchy tops and using a belt to hide some of the dress' details.
Dress: Kate Young for Target, Heels: BCBG, Top: LF Store, NEcklace: Vintage, Headband: Anthropologie

So I did. I think I'll be investing in a few more billowy tops to add possibilities to my dress-heavy wardrobe.

A Brief Day Off

Forgive my tardiness this week. I've been in not one, but two computer, crash-and-burn, meltdowns for over a week. And with a fully packed shooting schedule I'm down to blogging with a waterlogged Iphone 4 and my trusty Surface.
But no matter. Today marks a day off. I've still got an AC repair man, a best buy service call, a handyman visit scheduled, an oil change, and an airport run, but here's hoping that by dinner time it'll be smooth sailing as I attempt to finish some of the remaining projects in my new digs. (At least until my 4am wakeup call tomorrow)...
These days my fashion comes in the form of jeans and anything snuggly I can pair them with. It's not that I don't adore my dresses and heels, (or the myriad crop tops I'm dying to start wearing). It's just that between shooting in dusty canyons and using my down day for repair work, there's no room for anything else. It's all about making distressing look attractive!

So here I am trying to make the most of a task filled Wednesday. Here's to trying really hard for a bit of r&r!

Waking Up Montana

One of my favorite things about moving to Santa Monica is waking up knowing I now live in a "walking" neighborhood. When you work on set as much as I do, free hours are precious, and getting into your car isn't necessarily ideal.
On a crisp, non-working morning you'll find me cuddled in a soft sweater and jeans making my way northward. This is rapidly becoming my weekend uniform.
Sweater and Jeans: LF, Wedges: Sam Edelman, Hat: H&M

Some studs, a hat for those non-hair days, and it's off...

Crushing on Free People

"Endless Love", "Summer of Love", "Woodstock", "Flower Power",  "Boho", "Hippie-Chic". Whatever you choose to call it, the iconogrpahy of retro, 1960's clothing is never better expressed than at Free People.
This past weekend I found myself shopping for galoshes and fleece lined hoodies in preparation for a month long TV shoot in the elements. However, while tying on ranch-appropriate clothing, I chanced upon this FP "combo" dress and couldn't resist snagging it. It turned out to be the perfect, Montana-bound, brunch frock, and it speaks to my quasi-hippie soul.
Among the myriad things I love about the designs from Free People? They often tailor their dresses with pockets. Even when the material is delicate, they think to line with pockets. Pockets!!
Dress: Free People, Booties: DV, Earrings: Gifted, Purse: Brandy Melville

The great thing about this style is that it's not only on sale, but it comes in this rocking, black combo as well! I might have to snag them both. Find it here!
