Moroccan Pants for an English Olympics

I'm all about clothes that remind me of my childhood summers in Israel. And I'm also a huge fan of 70's era style, (the Hubs always jokes that I was born into the wrong decade). That, combined with searching for comfy, pub crawl clothes resulted in this combo over the weekend.

Friday night we made plans to meet with a handful of good friends at a Hollywood, watering hole. These loose palazzos and khaki, fatigue style jacket were just the thing for an English, pub night. And who knew the the Olympic, opening ceremonies would be on every flat screen telly in the joint? The place was packed. Comfort was definitely key.

Pants: Zara, Jacket: Charlotte Russe, Top: Vintage, Heels: Blowfish

I'm such a rare bar fly that even with all that Olympic cheer I was content to sip my coke with cherry syrup quite happily. It's really all about the company.

Grey Denim, my favorite, fall back item

It's casual Friday and I'm all about comfort, (plus I'm taking a break from color and back to my signature black and white).
My two faves, (black and white mixed) =Grey. And I've been living in these grey-scale jeans so often lately. I love the color, the fade, the softness. I'm really enjoying the change over from the blast of colored denim to something a bit more subtle.
This green polish color from Essie gives silver and bronze a kick. Color, "Incognito"...
Jeans: Goldesign, Jewelry: Israel, Top: Thrift, Sunnies: Venice Beach, Heels: Stuart Weitzman

And its out the door for a romantic day with the Hubs! Now, if I can only bowl in these clogs...

Jen M Rocks the 80's

This is my girl Jen. Jen is beautiful, fanciful, and completely adventurous and over the top. For her birthday this past year, she corralled a dozen of us into performing as a mini, flash-mob at a local, hotel, hot-spot. The kicker? We were all dressed in matching "Forever Lazies" while Jen donned an adult, dinosaur costume complete with head!
Yup, Jen's fearless. Even when she was diagnosed with cancer last spring. Through it all she's remained strong and beautiful and determined. Right before her surgery last summer, a group of us put together a photo-shoot in her honor, channeling themes from "Mod" to "Bondage", (all stuff Jen is expert at).
A little over a year later, Jen's doing and looking amazing. This weekend she and I met for an impromptu dinner, and when I was running my hand over her lush, newly grown in, dirty blond chop, it occurred to me that she looked like she was channeling a totally, 80's, brat-pack kid. (Mixed in with a little Madonna on the side)...

Naturally, I couldn't help asking her if she'd be up for having some fun and getting photos snapped. Jen being Jen always will jump in head first. Here are a few tasty tidbits of our spontaneous, play time. All hail Jen M, queen of the 80's!

Once we spiked out the hair, I started feeling very "True Blue" meets "The Breakfast Club". (Must be the hat)...
Here's to Jen for always being willing to be creative and free. And here's to the girls before her, (like Madonna and Molly Ringwald) who rocked the spiky hair, combat boots, leather, and princess dresses back in the day! They'd be proud.

With love to you Jen!

Feathers and Sequins

In preparation for some big, financial, life moves, I've charged myself to buy nothing until I've exhausted all closet-buried possibilities. Yesterday as the heat mounted, I forced myself to pull out yet another sequin skirt which I've only worn once. Oh impulse buy, why do you plague me?
I'm not totally sure what to do with this cute but seasonally challenged number. Guess I'll try it and see if I can swing it in this intense heat!
Feeling lively, I added this favorite pair of earrings, made with love and care by my amazing, makeup assistant. Isn't she crazy talented??
And trusty, nude heels. Never forget when you're feeling a little "hippy", nude heels elongate all legs!
Skirt: ASOS, Top: Lush, Heels: BCBG, Feather earrings: courtesy of Lisa Dempsey, Fedora: F21

And I left to run errands and catch up with a number of amazing and loving gal pals. Some days are built for that. Just being with your girls and taking the time together.

Fan Blouse Fab

Recently, I've been delving into my closet trying to make use of every, last item I have. This "fan" printed shirt is one that's just seeing the light of day now. I'd forgotten how cool it was!

Tricked out with a snazzy mini, It takes on a whole, new life.
Double breasted buttoning detail and batwing shoulders make it really cool up close. And a belt always pops a longer hem...
Top: Vintage, Belt: Vintage, Sunnies: Nicole Miller, Skirt: Mikkat Market, Heels: Vince Camuto

Dreaming in Cream

I'm obsessed with white and cream and lace and eyelet. It's all just so Boho pretty and so easy to style. When it's summer, light raffia and bits of color work nicely. Once fall hits, I'll add stilettos or biker boots to rough it up.
I'm also digging pops of color lately, and my new go-to's are red and lapis blue, (which I find really funny considering that those are notably, two of my least favorite colors) and I've never, ever worn them until this year!
But they make everything feel fresh. Go figure, the girl who always lived in black now wants to garb in red, white, and blue. I'm also feeling very "unmake-y" these days. This weekend I opted for no primer, tint, blush, shadow or liner. Just loads of mascara, a drop of under-eye concealer, some bronzer, and a lip stain in red.  So easy. 5 minutes and it's out the door!

Dress: Zara, Hat: F21, Slides: BCBG, Lip and cheek stain: BECCA Strawberry, Bag: 3rd street Promenade

What can I say? "I enjoy being a girl"... And thank you to all the readers that participated in last weeks' giveaway.

Congratulations to Danielle and Tina, the winners of the Little White Dress.

And thank you to all my readers who tuned in. Please keep visiting as I've got another, fun contest coming your way very soon!
